Privacy Policy

I don’t love privacy policies that run twenty pages and say nothing. So here’s mine, in plain language. It explains what data this site collects, why, who else touches it, and what you can do about it.

Last updated: October 2026

The Short Version

I collect very little about you. Analytics tools count visits and show me which posts people read. Ad networks and affiliate partners use cookies. If you email me, fill in a form or leave a comment, I keep what you send. I never sell your personal data to anyone. Ever.

Who Runs This Site

I run AssetVaultSG on my own as an independent blogger based in India. No company, no team, no data department. When this page says “I” or “me”, it means one person, and that person decides what happens with the little data the site collects.

You can reach me about anything on this page through the Contact page or at [your email address].

What I Collect

Information you give me

  • Contact form and emails. Your name, email address and whatever you write in the message.
  • Comments. Your name, email address, website (if you add one), and the comment itself. Your email never appears publicly.
  • [Newsletter, if you add one.] Your email address and any preferences you pick.

I only use this to reply to you, publish your comment, or send you what you signed up for.

Please don’t send me your NRIC, passport number, bank details, account statements or passwords. I don’t need them for anything, and I’ll delete them if they show up.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, your browser shares some technical details, like your IP address, device type, browser, operating system, the pages you view, how long you stay and which site sent you here. Most of this reaches me only as anonymous totals through the analytics tools below.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. This site uses a few kinds:

  • Essential cookies that keep the site working, such as remembering your details if you tick that box when commenting.
  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics and StatCounter.
  • Advertising cookies from Google AdSense and its partners.
  • Affiliate cookies set when you click an affiliate link.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings anytime. The site still works, though some features, like remembered comment details, might not.

Analytics: Google Analytics and StatCounter

I use Google Analytics and StatCounter to understand how people use the site. They show me things like which articles get read, which ones people leave after five seconds, and roughly where visitors come from (country or city level, not your street).

This helps me decide what to write next. I can’t see who you are from these reports.

Advertising: Google AdSense

Some pages show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this site and other sites across the internet.

I don’t pick individual ads and I don’t receive any personal data about you from Google. Google decides what to show.

You control this:

Affiliate Links

Some links on this site point to partners who pay me a commission if you sign up or buy something. When you click one, the partner usually sets a cookie so they can credit the referral to me.

I don’t see your name, your purchase or your account details. Partners usually just report a total like “3 sign-ups this month”. Once you land on their site, their privacy policy applies, not mine. More detail on how I earn lives in my Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure.

Sponsored Posts, Paid Posts and Reviews

Some posts on AssetVaultSG come from paid sponsorships, some from free products or access a brand gave me to review, and most come from my own research, stories and opinions. I label sponsored and paid content clearly.

None of these arrangements involve sharing your data. Brands that sponsor a post don’t get your email, your comments or any information about who read their article beyond general page view numbers, if I choose to share them.

How I Use Your Information

I use what I collect to:

  • reply to your messages
  • publish and moderate comments
  • understand which content helps readers
  • keep the site secure and block spam
  • earn a little through ads and affiliate links so I can keep the blog running

I don’t use your data to give you personal financial advice, because I don’t give personal financial advice at all. Nothing on this site tells you to buy or sell anything. Everything here counts as general information and my own opinion. See my Financial & Legal Disclaimer for the full picture.

Who Else Sees Your Data

I don’t sell, rent or trade your personal information. A few service providers handle data so the site can run:

  • my web hosting provider [hosting company name]
  • Google (Analytics and AdSense)
  • StatCounter
  • spam protection tools [e.g. Akismet, if used]
  • affiliate networks and partners, through their cookies

I’d also share information if the law required it, for example a valid request from a court or regulator.

Where Your Data Goes

I live in India, and the tools above store data on servers in various countries, including the United States. By using this site, you understand your data may travel outside Singapore. I only use well-known providers that publish their own privacy and security practices.

Singapore PDPA and Other Privacy Laws

I aim to handle personal data in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act where it applies. Visitors from the EU or UK also have rights under the GDPR.

In practice, that means you can:

  • ask what personal data I hold about you
  • ask me to correct it
  • withdraw consent and ask me to delete it, like a comment or an old email thread
  • unsubscribe from anything you signed up for

Email me and I’ll sort it out, usually within 30 days. I may ask you to confirm your identity first, just so I don’t hand your data to someone pretending to be you.

How Long I Keep Things

  • Emails: as long as I need them to deal with your message, then I clear them out periodically.
  • Comments: as long as the post stays live, unless you ask me to remove yours.
  • Analytics data: according to the retention settings in Google Analytics and StatCounter.

Security

I keep the site updated, use HTTPS, and limit access to my accounts. Still, no website can promise perfect security. Please keep anything sensitive out of comments and contact messages.

Children

I write AssetVaultSG for adults. I don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child sent me personal information, let me know and I’ll delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If I add a new tool, a newsletter or a new ad partner, I’ll update this page and the date at the top. Check back now and then if you care about the details (and since you’ve read this far, you probably do).

Questions

Something unclear, or want your data removed? Write to me at [your email address] or through the Contact page. I’ll reply myself.

Kaushal Dave, AssetVaultSG
